If GM goes bankrupt, how will it affect auto prices?
The auto industry has been hit with a sledgehammer in the current economy crises. GM auto sales were down by 23 percent in 2008. If GM did go bankrupt, auto prices would plummet and consumers would have a huge buyer’s advantage. As GM auto prices fell dramatically, the other automakers would be compelled to drop their prices to remain competitive.
It sounds like a cakewalk for new car buyers. How many people are in the market for a new car this year and do they have the confidence to open their wallets for another expense in view of the global economic meltdown? People are scared of the scope of the meltdown.
It doesn’t appear that GM will go bankrupt Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsAuto insurance: Extended warranties
EVEN OLD CARS NEED EXTENDED WARRANTIES
If you have an older car that is out of warranty and cannot afford to buy a newer car, you need to hear my story, which follows: I have a 1999 Plymouth voyager van that I bought new. I really like this car. It is still tight, squeak free, and drives like it did when it was new. Everything in it still works and the driver’s seat is more Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsAuto glass: What you need to know about tinted windows
You may have noticed the distinct tinted glass on limousines and other luxury cars, but have you ever considered the benefits of tinting your own windows? Window tinting is not only trendy, but also necessary in many sunshine states. This popular option might be something for you to consider too!
To Tint or Not To Tint? That is the Question!
What are the advantages of tinted windows? The first and foremost benefit is reduced heat. By reducing the sun’s constant heat, you will protect and prolong the life of your car’s interior. Tinting your windows will prevent fabric from weakening and plastic trim from cracking or fading. Window tinting also improves the performance of your air Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsAncient rhetoric and auto repair
The practice of ancient rhetoric and the art of fixing cars don’t seem like two things that fit together. But even in the time of Aristotle (aka a really long time ago) rhetoric was seen as a practical art that could be used by the average person, such as an automotive service writer. I don’t really know if they had chariot service writers in Aristotle’s time, but the important thing is that the principles apply just as well when relating to customers today as they did to dealing with a bunch of smart guys in togas, back in the day. It doesn’t take a lot of fancy Greek words either, just three: logos, pathos, and ethos. Now it you’ll just Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsShould you buy a new or used car?
First time car buyers always face this dilemma. I most certainly did, maybe more than others but there is nothing wrong in having two options rather than just one. For some people, owning a brand new car is a distinct feeling beyond compensation. Nothing wrong with that, after all it is personal preference. Others might calculate the amount of money involved in buying new one vs. buying a used car. Again, nothing wrong in this approach either. One should however keep in mind that after a couple of years, the new car does not look as new as it used to be during its first few months, but you would probably be paying same amount of money every month Read the rest of this entry »

No CommentsCan you get quality auto parts at a junkyard?
Is money tight? Do you need your car repaired but the parts cost too much money? Don’t despair. Junkyards or auto salvage yards may have the parts you need for your car at a fraction of the cost of new parts.
Parts salvaged for use on autos from a junkyard are removed by experienced professionals so they are not damaged during extraction from a junk vehicle. Salvage experts then perform a physical inspection of the part to ensure that no physical defects exist that would effect the efficient operation of the part. Lastly, diagnostics may be run on the part and if it passes, it is cataloged into a computer system that can be accessed by repair Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsHow to find discount auto parts
Finding discount auto parts is one of those elusive things that some people are afraid of. They worry that discount means there is something wrong with the parts. They may also worry that the quality is inferior and that using the parts will somehow damage their car. In truth though these parts are a great way to save money. Using a car dealership can be quite a headache, not to mention incredibly expensive. If you can find discount auto parts and install them yourself, you can save both the time and money.
How do you find these discount auto parts? Start with a visit to the nearest junk yard or salvage yard. The vehicles there are typically those that were Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsHow a mans car affects his ego
Chicken or egg: which came first? The arguement has been going on since the beginning of time it seems. Well what about a man’s ego and his choice of car; does a man with a certain ego-type choose a particular type of car? or does the car a man drives transform his ego?
All young boys love cars. If you give a young boy a piece of paper and a pencil and say ‘Draw a picture of a car’, you can bet your bottom dollar he will draw a ‘racing car’.
To young boys, cars are about excitement, going fast, racing.
A man though is just a boy who has grown big and taken on certain responsibilities, and the car he chooses is Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsAn overview on auto rebates and incentives
Auto rebates and incentive programs have been around for over 25 yrs.. There are a wide variety of offers and each has their own pre-qualifications to take advantage of them. There are basically two types of programs….the rebate programs, and the incentives programs. These programs are offered from the factory to stimulate slow selling models, or reduce aged inventory. The dealers themselves may also offer “in-house” rebates and incentives as well, however, we will be dealing with the factory programs.
Let’s start with the rebate programs. These programs almost always consist of a monetary discount off of the purchase price, and come directly from the manufacturer. The discount usually ranges anywhere from $500.00 to $2500.00 and given the current market, sometimes Read the rest of this entry »
