For the past three seasons, Grey’s Anatomy has undoubtedly been ABC’s number one money maker, bringing back millions of viewers each week. Creator Shonda Rhimes has developed characters we’ve fallen in love with and each week fans of the show tune in for more of what Grey’s does best. Intense, intriguing medical fascinations paired up with the trials and tribulations of dating and romance, especially when you’re sleeping with the boss, has been the ticket to this show’s success, making it the number show on television.

TV show reviews: Girlfriends

Essentially this show is “Sex in the City” for African-American women. The show’s protagonist, Joan, played by Tracy Ellis Ross is a self-consumed bourgeois lawyer who is center of her social circle because she maintains financial security and her quirks and general narcissism is an irritating yet tried and true quality that one can form a bond with. Her Mr. Big is William, another lawyer that works for the same firm who has an on and off relationship with her and drama with Lynn Searcy, played by Persia White, whom he was actually involved with at one time. When Joan and William begin to connect and develop true intimacy, Joan’s issues or William’s commitment phobia begin to Read the rest of this entry »

Tips for getting a record deal

As Roy Castle used to say ‘Dedication is what you need”

Very true – there are many bands out there desperate for a record deal whoreally just don’t know where to start. Unfortunately these days bands need to do even more of the work to get a record label to sign them than they ever have before. The reason for this is that the industry is suffering a bit and labels don’t have so much money to be able to invest in breaking new bands, so it is imperative that you do as much to develop your fanbase as you can.

As long as you can develop a bit of a following, it is worth trying to push your career but think Read the rest of this entry »

TV show reviews: Keeping Up with the Kardashians

What is it with people’s fascination about celebrities ever day lives that these networks can keep cranking these worthless shows out by the dozens that everybody likes so much?

Are people just getting easier to entertain? Or are people just getting dumber and shows like this seem like worthwhile TV?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Shows like this are part of the decline of Western civilization!

This show is another example of a celebrity being created for no other reason than controversy and the person having money. The only person famous for a reason in this show is Bruce Jenner. The rest of them are not famous and should not be treated as celebrities just because they have money! Read the rest of this entry »

Movie reviews: Iron Man

A genesis story, Iron Man answers the question, “Where did Iron Man come from?” Laughter dots the super hero backdrop that is visually fun to watch but lacks the lift off to be a classic super hero movie.

Like the wise one says, “necessity is the mother of invention” and Tony Stark’s mother birthed the crude chrysalis of Iron Man in a cave in Afghanistan. While demonstrating the Jericho Missile, spoiled, womanizing, arrogant weapons manufacturer and brilliant engineer Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr. ) is kidnapped by the Ten Rings terrorist group led by Raza (Faran Tahir). He is seriously injured during the attack. They hold him captive with a kidnapped doctor, Yinsen (Shaun Toub), Read the rest of this entry »

Television show reviews: Heroes

Heroes is easily the best show on television right now.

We have finally seen Mr. Linderman; a man with money and men at his disposal was first shown cooking in his own casino. We know why Hiro told Peter he looked different without his scar when they first met on the subway in the beginning of the season. And we have plenty of answers to make us want to keep guessing and watching.

I think the writers of Lost need to sit down and watch Heroes and take notes. Heroes is doing what Lost is attempting. Heroes is able to introduce new mysterious elements without overwhelming the audience. Not only does Heroes introduce the new elements, it answers the questions Read the rest of this entry »

TV show reviews: Trailer Park Boys

The Trailer Park Boys has got to be one of the funniest t.v shows out there today. Whats so surprising about it is that its not filmed in some big tv studio in America but its a home grown Canadian classic shot on location in real trailer parks in the Canadian maritime. The show is shot in a mockumentary fashion, that is to say that the lives of all the whacky park inhabitants are filmed by a “t.v crew” who occasionally are used as minor plot devices. The center of the show is around the 3 main characters of Rick Julian and Bubbles. It chronicles there shenanigans and money schemes as they interact with members of the park such as Read the rest of this entry »

TV show reviews: Hex

Hex is a British supernatural drama that was canceled at its peak. The show reflected teenage life at a picturesque British boarding school, just after the outcast student of Thelma Bates has passed away. She’s not entirely dead, however. Her best friend Cassie Hughes, who just happens to be a witch, can still see her.

It’s your basic best-friend-dies-but-you-can-s till-see-her concept, with a slight twist – Cassie isn’t just a witch, she’s the target of Azazeal, leader of the fallen angels, who plans to seduce and impregnate her.

Despite the actors cast being relatively unknown in and outside the UK, there was a lot of potential and chemistry between the actors, and this definitely helped to fuel the hormone Read the rest of this entry »

Movie reviews: Citizen Kane

Citizen Kane is a motion picture based largely on the life of William Randolph Hurst. Although considered to be an original Screen play, Hurst himself still a powerful man at the time of the making and release of this film did much to stop it’s release. Knowing he was going to be exposed for the cut-throat, arrogant, insecure man he had become over time.

In the film Citizen Kane, Charles Foster Kane is given up by his parents, so he will have a better life, according to the movie he inherited money as long as he completed college and became a ward of the inheritance and was guided by Thatcher, a banker, who believed he knew what would be Read the rest of this entry »
